Animesh Kumar served at the Diabetes Foundation of Misssissippi in Ridgeland, MS. He served in many capacities, some including: handing out medals at a walk-a-thon, making goody bags for individuals with high and low blood pressure, making birthday cards, as well as doing over 500 pages of paperwork. This was a wonderful oppurtunity for him.
Conner Ivey
Conner Ivey is currently serving as a Student Ambassador for his school. He served as an Ambassador during LLI Mississippi. He has many roles as a Student Ambassador, such as assisting visitors as they enter the school. He also has worked at the Oppurtunity Center in Jackson, MS. He served food to the homeless and handed out collected goods. Conner also gave a presentation during LLI Mississippi about starting a robotics team.
George Dew
George Dew organized a meeting with the 8th Grade STEM class at Madison-Ridgeland Academy. He, along with another member of the team, gave the STEM class a demostration about the robot. He was also able to see exactly what the STEM class was doing and was able to tell them a little bit about how they could apply what they were doing in FIRST and robotics.
Chesely Price
Chesely Price volunteered for the Little Feet Foundation at First Baptist Church of Jackson. As well, he spent 8 hours unloading old toys, clothes, and even cribs from cars and brought them to the second floor of First Baptist Church of Jackson.
Ian Wright
Ian Wright spent a day along with his fellow classmates of MRA at the Ronald McDonald House in Madison, MS. The Ronald McDonald House provides housing to recovering familes from Blair Batson Children's Hospital. Ian also performed housekeeping duties and cooked breakfast for the familes.
Jack Laws
Jack Laws was on the Boys Scouts of America or BSA. Jack assisted in preparing meals for other scouts and staff members. He was part of the property staff and helped set up classes and transported equiptment, such as computers and art supplies, to the classrooms.
Visiting our Kindergarten
Our team visited MRA's kindergarten and displayed both teams' robots. As well as running the robots around the kindergarteners, we unloaded kids from the cars. The kindergarteners were amazed and had a blast about learning robotics.
